I tested this with a phone doing GPS navigation, something that really ran the battery down with another 12V adapter/charger attached Using this adapter, the phone charged, albeit slowly, with navigation on.
The picture showed a 700 mA output, but the unit I received was rated at 1.0 A (1000mA). I purchased an extra microUSB cable so that I could insert an ammeter and test the current. It output 490 mA, the same as the AC charger that came with the phone, and very close to the USB standard. The adapter used 5.6 mA from the 12V source with no load.

This is a $4 replacement for a $29.99 iPhone charger, and bluetooth headset charger, and GPS charger. Just use your own cables. The landfills will be less full because of it. I saved $90.00! This product rocks! I bought 1 for each car!

I think that this charger is the best car charger for an iphone/ipod that money can buy. It is super compact, easy to use and doesn't need a long cord to be stored along with it. All you need is the usb cable that comes along with your device.

I keep having to reorder these. That is not a comment on the quality, my friends and family keep stealing them.
What I really like is the size. Short of being flush with the dash I'm not sure how it could be improved. Best find for the price on amazon!!
The seller got them to us fast. All in all, I have nothing negative to say. I highly recommend!!
